Martin is a Chemical Engineer by training, graduating from the University of Adelaide. He has a long career in the petrochemical and plastics industries working in manufacturing, technical management, strategic planning, marketing and general management. Building on this experience Martin was for a time CEO of the Plastics and Chemical Industries Association (PACIA). Here he was actively involved in the debate on global warming, industry action agenda and issues of sustainability for the industries he represented.
Martin joined CSR Limited to manage the ethanol business and is currently General Manager, Government Relations. In this role he has been actively engaged in lobbying on the emissions trading scheme, RET, especially as it relates to bagasse based cogeneration projects and energy efficiency, particularly in the built environment.
Martin is a director and deputy chair of the Clean Energy Council and a board member of the Australian Industry Greenhouse Network. He is a member of the CSR in-house Carbon Implementation Working Team to prepare CSR for a carbon constrained future.
