Changes to the Solar Credits Multiplier
01 Dec 2010
Dear members, Climate Change Minister Greg Combet has announced today that the Solar Credits multiplier for household power systems will be reduced by one from 1 July 2011. The change will see this multiplier stepped down a year earlier than originally planned, from five times the deemed rate of renewable energy certificates to four times. According to the release, the change was made in response to the falling price of solar power systems and was "targeted at ensuring solar power systems are not provided at little or no out-of-pocket expense" to consumers. The move follows extensive consultation with the clean energy industry and energy utilities. You can access the media release of the announcement here. Kind regards Russell Marsh Policy Director
