Live from Cancun

From 29 November to 11 December 2010 will be held in Cancun, Mexico, the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Our international team is already there together with the Australian delegation.

UNFCCC's perspective on the state of play

On 3 May 2010, the departing UNFCCC Secretary, Yvo de Boer, addressed the Petersberg Climate Dialogue in Germany to share his views on the state of play of UNFCCC negotiations, summarising the progress of resulting from the Copenhagen Accord and outlining the pathway for Cancun.

UN names Costa Rican, Christiana Figueres as new climate change chief

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Christiana Figueres of Costa Rica to lead United Nations efforts to combat climate change.

She will take the reins of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) from Yvo de Boer, who announced that he was stepping down to pursue new opportunities to advance progress on the issue in the private sector and academia.
