Industry Development

The CEC's objective is to grow the sustainable energy industry in Australia. One of the ways it works towards achieving this is by supporting its members with specific industry development initiatives.

The CEC undertakes a number of activities, projects and programs in support of the industry. These activities are aimed at building industry capacity and capability; addressing impediments; and promoting best practice.

Over the past months activities have included:

  • Maintaining a national Accreditation scheme for industry practitioners who design and install stand-alone and grid connected photovoltaic systems. Click here to read more about PV accreditation
  • Coordinating the development of the Australian Bioenergy Roadmap. Click here to view
  • Providing professional development to participants of the Clean Energy Council Accreditation scheme
  • Working with industry sectors and government to increase training and skills. A report on training and skills gaps is soon to be released.
  • Working with Distribution Businesses and Retailers to improve processes for the connection of small scale renewable technologies to the grid. Click here to view details
  • Actively working with Clean Energy Council Directorates to address areas of potential market barriers, develop tools and information to support their activities, and prepare submissions to Government and other stakeholders on planning, amenity and environmental impediments to increased development of the industry.

Focus in the coming months will be:

  • Supporting the growth of a skilled work force for the clean energy sector to 2020 and beyond
  • Building and refining industry accreditation to promote quality and best practice

The CEC keeps its members up-to-date with developments in the industry as well as regulatory and market developments that may have an impact on their business or may impact on projects that they are developing completed projects.
