The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) today announced that it proposes to approve our additions and amendments to the Solar PV Retailer code of conduct, and to reauthorise the code for five years.
The Clean Energy Council applied to have the code extended to address potential issues in the rapidly expanding area of finance innovations, such as Power Purchase Agreements and leasing. Today’s draft decision confirms the need for such protection and emphasises the value of this voluntary code of conduct in raising standards in what is proving to be an enduring industry.
The ACCC said it considers that the Code is likely to improve consumer confidence and protection in the solar PV retail sector, as well as improving retailer standards and compliance.
The Code is a voluntary scheme that solar retailers can apply to sign up to, which demonstrates that they meet best practice standards that will benefit consumers and improve the industry.
