The Clean Energy Council Annual General Meeting was held last Friday, and we took the opportunity to reflect on our achievements and progress as the peak body during 2015-16.
Over the past 12 months Clean Energy Council membership increased by 21 per cent and the organisation is building on its solid financial base, which demonstrates both growth in the sector and our strong leadership as we head into 2017.
Our improved financial position has enabled the Clean Energy Council to again increase staffing levels – with recruitment currently underway for four new positions. This will ensure we can meet the needs of our growing membership base and have more capability to advocate for the industry. While the outlook for the sector has improved substantially over the past 21 months, there are plenty of challenges ahead.
The AGM is also the time to recognise and thank the Board of the Clean Energy Council for their support and leadership in ensuring sound governance and a strong strategy for the organisation. Congratulations to Alex Beckitt (Hydro Tasmania), Cameron Garnsworthy (FRV), Warwick Johnston (SunWiz) who were all re-elected, and to Peter Cowling (GE) who was elected to the board.
