The NSW Government’s Office of Environment and Heritage is calling on Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailers to apply for a new tender to install solar PV and battery storage systems on public buildings and infrastructure in NSW.
The tender will establish a panel of pre-qualified organisations that will be eligible to install energy saving and generation projects on government buildings such as schools, TAFEs, offices, art facilities, hospitals, correctional centres, courts and police stations.
One of the requirements of the tender is that all applicants must be a Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer, which includes having the system designed and installed by a Clean Energy Council Accredited Installer with battery storage endorsement.
The requirement that tender applicants are a signatory to the Clean Energy Council’s Solar Retailer Code of Conduct highlights the additional opportunities available to Approved Solar Retailers and reaffirms the Code’s standing as an indicator of quality in the Australian solar industry.
Approved Solar Retailers must adhere to a strict set of principles, including offering a minimum five-year whole-of-system warranty and making a commitment to excellence in customer service and ethical marketing practices.
The Clean Energy Council’s Solar Retailer Code of Conduct was introduced in 2013 and is the only program of its kind in Australia. The code is authorised by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and was developed in conjunction with a range of experts from the solar industry, consumer groups, energy users associations, regulators, legal advisors and ombudsmen.
