Wind energy powered by weather*
Last week wind energy generated 97481.50 MWh of electricity. This is equivalent to the amount of power used by approx 714150.2 homes.
Australia has some of the best wind resources in the world. Australia currently has 1153 wind turbines and 54 operating wind farms. Wind energy currently accounts for around 2.7 per cent of Australia's total energy consumption, producing around 5770 Gigawatt hours of electricity per annum (as at July 2011). * This data is taken from The National Electricity Market (NEM). The NEM is a wholesale market for electricity supply in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, The Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania. It does not include data for Western Australia.
