Solar hot water report for week 11 May to 17 May 2012

According to Sustainability Victoria, if you have a solar water heater in Melbourne, this week you would have cut your greenhouse gas emissions and your hot water costs by 33%.

If all Victorian homes had a solar water heater, this week Victoria would have cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 25,870 tonnes.

That is equivalent to:

  • 310,000 cars off the road this week... OR
  • 500 million black balloons... OR
  • 1.3% of Victoria's greenhouse gases from energy.

According to Sustainability Victoria, if you have a solar water heater in Melbourne, this year you would have cut your greenhouse gas emissions and your hot water costs by 69%.

And if all Victorian homes had a solar water heater, so far this year Victoria would have cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 931,980 tonnes.

That is equivalent to:

  • 570,000 cars off the road for the period since January 1... OR
  • 18.65 billion black balloons... OR
  • 2.6% of Victoria's greenhouse gases from energy.
