Australians will head to the polls on 21 May to vote for the next Federal Government.

The Clean Energy Council's message to the voting public is simple. Securing Australia’s economic future and action on climate change starts with policies that accelerate the renewable energy transition.

Electricity generation is Australia's largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, meaning that renewable energy has the potential to deliver significant emissions reductions while lowering power prices, driving economic growth and creating jobs.

With the recent IPCC report clearly stating that time is running out to contain global warming to 1.5°C, the results of the Federal Election will have an enormous impact on Australia's contribution to reducing global emissions.

Throughout the election campaign, the Clean Energy Council will be closely watching the clean energy announcements and promises made by all the major parties, keeping a record of policy announcements and correcting the record where necessary to ensure that the importance of Australia's clean energy transition is at the forefront of voters and politicians' minds.
