About the Leading Edge course

Delivered part-time over four months, Leading Edge enables aspiring and early career managers to transition confidently into capable and motivated leaders.

  • Duration: Four Months (part-time)
  • Commitment: Two hours per week (average)
  • Delivery Format: Online
  • Activities: Capability assessment, virtual workshops, applied and self-directed learning, peer group interaction, peer coaching

Leading Edge Typical Candidate:

  • No previous leadership experience or in the early stages of their leadership career
  • Interested in developing their own confidence to be able to lead others
  • Wants to learn how to handle conflict, challenges, and communication within their team.

Please note:
- Applications for this course will close midnight Sunday 10 September 2023, or earlier if we reach our application limit (the Scholarship has been extremely popular in previous years). Successful applicants will be announced in October 2023.

- Shortlisted candidates will need to be available for online interviews between 9th-13th October.

- For successful candidates there will be a non-compulsory networking event on the evening of 24th October in Melbourne and complimentary tickets to the Women in Renewables lunch at All Energy (Melbourne) on 25th October.

  • A one-page cover letter addressing the eligibility and selection criteria
  • A copy of your current curriculum vitae clearly outlining your time in eligible industries
  • A one-page reference letter that: attests your referees’ confidence in your ability to successfully complete the requirements of the program; explains how this program will support your career progression; and shares anything else they may deem relevant to your application.

Eligibility and selection criteria

To be eligible to apply for the Leading Edge course you must:

  1. Be currently employed in Australia in a field relating to renewable energy, energy management (including energy efficiency and demand response) or carbon abatement
  2. Possess a minimum of 12 months experience in one of the above fields
  3. Identify as a woman, and not have received a CEC Scholarship within the last two years (Note: this criterion does not need to be addressed in your cover letter)
  4. Have a demonstrated commitment to the clean energy industry
  5. Have demonstrated leadership potential and a desire to lead others
  6. Have a clear idea of how completing this scholarship will support your professional development
