Vestas, the world leader in renewable energy has made the decision to add new projects to its wind development portfolio on the east coast of Australia, and as a result, is seeking a skilled Development Manager to join the team as we secure suitable sites to feed into our development pipeline.

You will be identifying and securing a portfolio of greenfield wind development projects on the east coast of Australia, with a specific focus on Queensland. This will involve developing and implementing a strategy to de-risk and commercialise projects.

You will be aided by Vestas proprietary project screening tools and Vestas’ considerable experience in delivering wind power projects in Australia. You have the flexibility to be located anywhere on the east coast, and the role will involve travel to project sites across Australia.

The Development Manager will play a key role in identifying and securing wind development projects, and will require a blend of technical, commercial, financial, environmental, and legal acumen, as well as an appreciation of and dedication to landowner relationships and community engagement.

  • Develop a pipeline of greenfield wind energy projects across the east coast of Australia, with a specific focus on Queensland
  • Build relationships with host landowners and assist with negotiation and execution of license, option, and easement agreements to secure land access
  • De-risk key elements of the projects
  • Work with State Governments to identify market trends and opportunities to expand our portfolio
  • Investigate existing and potential future opportunities for commercialisation of wind energy projects across our portfolio
  • Leveraging the Vestas organisation to propel development goals
  • Guide connection application and connection agreement processes and negotiations


  • Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Business, Commerce, or similar helpful but not essential


  • Experience in major project development
  • A strategic and entrepreneurial minset
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial negotiation
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and build relationships with people
  • Positive, outgoing personality
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion

Additional information

Note this will be a home based role with approx 25% domestic travel
