About the role

Pivotal HSE role for Australia’s first offshore wind project based in Melbourne and/or Gippsland

  • Design and deliver contemporary HSE strategy, implement management systems and continuous improvement across the project
  • Support the CEO and senior management team to strengthen a positive HSE culture

The Star of the South is Australia’s first offshore wind project. Proposed to be located off the south coast of Gippsland, it has the potential to supply up to 20% of Victoria’s electricity needs, continuing Gippsland, and the Latrobe Valley’s proud history of power generation into the future.

The Star of the South is seeking to appoint an outstanding HSE Manager to contribute to formulating and driving the HSE strategy, and development and implementation of a HSE management system in accordance with global standards and local Australian requirements.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the HSE Manager provides expert advice to the CEO, senior management, and key external stakeholders on the HSE direction and performance for the project.

Priorities include strengthening a positive HSE culture for the project and its supply chain, conducting site inspections and audits, implementation of the HSE management system to meet regulatory requirements and continuous improvement, as well as the collection, interpretation, and presentation of HSE data to key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience in driving HSE initiatives and systems in a large, and complex infrastructure project, either in offshore wind or industry with transferable skills. This position requires a contemporary HSE professional with a thorough understanding of HSE legislative and corporate compliance requirements and a refined partnership approach, keeping the end user in mind. A minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) is required and a relevant tertiary qualification in a related field is highly desirable.
