About the role
We are seeking an engineer or scientist with strong analytical skills, computer knowledge and an ability to collate, analyse and interpret technical data to assist in the management of wind farm plant performance across the portfolio. The incumbent would support the Plant Performance and Asset Manager with detailed reporting of site performance to meet the owner’s asset management objectives/expectations.

This role will work within the RES Australia Asset Management team, using various plant performance data sources including Turbine/BoP SCADA, Condition Monitoring, Metering, Dispatch System, Market and more to lead the day-to-day operation of the wind portfolio. The opportunity to be involved in the continual improvement/development of RES data management systems/practices will also form a key part of the role.

Duties

  • Conduct ad hoc checks on site performance (Availability, Efficiency, Curtailment).
  • Develop and use reliability engineering and condition monitoring tools.
  • Conduct analysis of Actual plant performance Vs Budget.
  • Review contractual performance guarantee calculations.
  • Develop, maintain and improve digital twins for projects to analyse technical and financial performance.
  • Automate and improve data accessibility that is independent of SQL query.
  • Support system analysis to inform performance optimisation, such as, constraints and market trends.
  • Liaise with RES Global departments on Technical topics

Experience & Skills

  • Engineering, science or related qualifications.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy plants, specifically wind generating plants (electro/mechanical)
  • Programming is essential, preferably in Python or an eagerness to learn Python.
  • Strong Microsoft skills essential esp. Excel, SQL, PowerBI report creation and automation• Desirable:
  • Microsoft Power Automate or Power Apps
  • Working with server (or cloud based) data pipelines
  • Working with programming software and GitHub
  • Renewable Plant O&M experience
