Power Systems Engineer

Role Summary:

NES FIRCROFT are searching for an experienced power systems engineer on behalf of one of our clients, a renowned OEM. Our client has a global team of electricity experts that have been tackling the most intricate problems for some of the most prominent industry stakeholders for over 20 years.

The primary purpose of this role is to carry out projects across the generation, transmission and distribution sectors. The location of this role is flexible, being either in Melbourne or Brisbane.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Power Systems Director, you will:

• Conduct and coordinate technical studies related to grid connection of renewable energy projects
  
• Be the key senior individual to lead project studies and liaising with the NSPs and AEMO
  
• Enhance personal competence in several specialised technical areas, such as: power quality, electromagnetic transients, earthing and protection
  
• Manage deliverables, schedules and budgets for client projects and studies
  
• Assist with resource planning and management
  
• Serve as technical lead for consulting engagements within the Power Systems service offering.
  
• Develop and deliver presentations to clients
  
• Manage client expectations through regular communications and responsiveness
  
• Prepare detailed technical reports
  

Required Experience:

• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering
  
• 4-5 years’ experience in power system analysis in generation, transmission, and distribution systems
  
• Full legal working rights in Australia
  
• Excellent understanding of PSS/E and PSCAD network simulation software will be highly regarded along with using python scripting as a supporting tool.
  
• Ability to work to deadlines and exceed client expectations
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  
• CPEng and RPEQ qualifications are highly regarded
