About the Role
The Senior Commercial Manager will lead our commercial activities for the portfolio of RES-owned projects that are not being developed within a joint venture. This is an engaging and varied role combining aspects of deal structuring, contract negotiation, procurement strategy, route to market activities (including offtake, sourcing equity and debt financing) and policy engagement.
About You
You will be a proven leader who has exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to set priories, meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. Engaging effectively with industry technical experts, applying
professional relationships and external expertise to develop successful collaborations will be essential in this role.
Responsibilities
• Supporting the Development Director for the portfolio of RES-owned projects to structure and deliver the developments through to sale, ensuring these are delivered in a manner that aligns with the investment criteria of the end investor and procuring the necessary internal commercial approvals.
• Working with the group Strategic Procurement Director to define and deliver the procurement strategy for the portfolio of RES-owned projects.
• Providing commercial direction and oversight of the structuring and negotiation of high-stake contracts, (equity sale/debt raising, joint development agreements and/or development sale agreements as applicable).
• Managing a small commercial team that will provide dedicated support to this role.
• Project managing internal specialist functions and external advisors (e.g. legal & finance) as required to provide appropriate standards of documentation, compliance and risk management.
• Collaborating flexibly with all internal stakeholders to deliver on the development strategy.
• Be an exemplary role model to encourage the avoidance of risk-taking behaviours across the business and provide the personal commitment never to “risk it”.
Experience & Qualifications
• Minimum graduate level degree in Engineering, Law, Finance or similar
• Understanding of and passion for the role that renewable energy developments can play in the transion to Net Zero
• Understanding of the contractual structures and principles used in agreements, government support mechanisms, project transactions and partnership agreements.
• Broad range of strategic, commercial, and technical skills including an understanding of energy value chain economics, financial evaluation, business case preparation and interpreting complex data.
• Experience in creating and executing strategies for new ventures, working knowledge of wind, solar and storage projects.
• Experience managing highly effective teams and fostering an environment of support and continuing professional development.
• Ability to lead and coach people in a matrix environment.
