This is an opportunity to join the growing CWP Renewables team in Newcastle or Canberra. Broadly, we are looking to recruit a new team of development professionals with a wide range of experience and skills. Specifically this includes project personnel (managers, developers and officers), technical services support (energy resource and grid connection fields) and legal counsel (to support a range of land and property based interactions).

The role:

Reporting to the Head of Development, the Senior Developer will support the Head of Development in overseeing and managing multiple renewable energy generation and storage projects within the portfolio during all stages of development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee and be hands-on in the development of renewable energy generation and storage projects by supporting project and prospecting teams, providing advice where required, reviewing project plans, budgets and risk assessments and assistance in liaising with clients or regulators where required.
  • Conduct reviews of property agreements required for the projects in consultation with the legal team.
  • Participation in prospecting for renewable energy and storage projects, including providing advice and hands-on support to the project and prospecting teams with regards to data collection and feasibility reporting.
  • Work with the development and technical services teams to develop robust project layouts.
  • Support the consultation process with relevant planning authorities, regulators, general public, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and lead the work of a team; provide motivation, encouragement and opportunities for development; manage any underperformance issues if required in consultation with HR.
  • Keep a watching brief of energy policy development and attend industry conferences where relevant or required.
  • Support and prepare board papers, as required.
  • Build and strengthen key external stakeholder relationships.
  • Provide strategic input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the business.
  • Drive a safety culture, ensuring the health and wellbeing of all CWPR employees.

About you:
You will have:

  • Experience developing and managing utility scale renewable energy generation and storage projects and teams specifically in the Australian market.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian energy market.
  • Previous experience within feasibility and due diligence of new opportunities and making recommendations for investment.
  • Experience motivating high performing teams.
  • Degree qualified in law, planning, engineering, finance, environmental science or related field (or equivalent).
  • A current Australian driver’s licence.
