Job Description

As renewables continues to grow, so do the opportunities. A new position has opened up in our Melbourne Development team and will have a focus on projects across VIC and NSW.

The Senior Project Developer is responsible for the project management of ACCIONA Energy internal and external activities for the development of wind energy projects ensuring that projects progress to pre-construction phase while recognising schedule, cost and quality expectations.

This role additionally provides commercial and planning advice to guide the development of ACCIONA Energy projects from feasibility assessment to planning approvals to the construction and operational phases.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work with a close knit, collaborative Development team and cross functionally with technical teams within the wider Engineering and Construction department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall delivery of wind and solar farm projects through to investment case stage
  • Engagement with the relevant authorities to progress environmental and planning approvals
  • Provision of accurate and timely assessment of development issues, risks and opportunities
  • Manage development issues as they emerge within projects with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain trusting and productive project landholder relationships from initiation through to construction handover
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders including local, state and federal government staff and local community representatives
  • Liaise regularly with ACCIONA head office staff in Spain

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary qualifications in either town and regional planning, environmental planning, commerce, business management, science or engineering
  • Must have experience in the development of wind projects (can come from land or environment etc background)
  • Understanding of the grid connection process as it relates to Australian renewable energy developments
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate successful project development outcomes with key government and non-government stakeholders
  • Available to travel regularly to regional and interstate locations as required
  • Valid Australian driver’s license
