Allume Energy is a Melbourne based solar technology company focused on unlocking solar access for apartments and multi-tenanted buildings. Allume Energy has developed a world first product, the SolShare, to allow a single solar system to be shared by multiple units in the same building. It requires no change to existing electricity supply and metering infrastructure and sits entirely behind the meter, making it an affordable and scalable solution to expand access to solar globally.


Allume’s product spans the mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware and web software engineering spheres. We are looking for a capable and passionate Technical Program Manager to manage several existing and emerging projects. The role will require the diligence to solve the right problems, the persistence to remove roadblocks for the technical team, and the initiative to identify commercially sound product improvement opportunities.

Role & Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the CTO, this position provides an opportunity for a fast thinking and highly motivated leader to have a key hand in determining how technical projects are prioritised and undertaken at Allume Energy and driving those projects from concept through to transfer to manufacture. The projects will consist of new opportunities for improved product and/or features, as well as unplanned projects to solve product, service, install or manufacturing challenges.

A key part of this role will be having the instinct to know when to zoom in to the technical details and when to zoom out to the big picture view. At times there will be lots of information to absorb and various technical and commercial stakeholders to listen to. Your job will be to discern what matters most. It will be essential that the Program Manager has strong relationship building skills ensuring buy-in to a strategy, the confidence to set a clear vision and plan for the technical team, and the proactiveness to communicate regular updates to the executive team.


  • Engineering degree or equivalent practical knowledge
  • 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced cross-functional environment
  • Understanding of the hardware development process, from concept through to verification and validation, through to transfer to production
  • Ability to quickly understand complex technical topics, abstract the key risks and what matters most, and guide a technical team towards focused action
  • Strategic thinking to identify creative ways to overcome obstacles to meet deadlines despite setbacks
  • Experience scheduling with a focus on critical path

  • Collaborative, team-based approach
  • Resilience to remain calm with the big picture in mind in the face of uncertainties
  • Willingness to muck in and assist on the less glamorous projects
