Role Summary

Are you an Australian based Electrical Wind Technician or a Qualified Electrical Trade person aspiring to join the wind industry? Are you looking to join a growing team for a new challenge in 2021? If so, we want to hear from you. We're looking for motivated individuals to join us as Travelling Wind Farm Service Technicians – Electrical.

Based out of one of our several Australian wind farm sites and being regularly dispatched country wide to support ongoing maintenance activities, major component exchanges, and new farm stand-up activities. This role will see you interface regularly with multiple GE Onshore wind farms, Service Management, our many Clients and internal technical teams. Location is flexible around Australia; East Coast is preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Interpret the requirements of GE manuals, specifications, bulletins, and complete assigned tasks in accordance with GE work instructions.
  • Perform and ensure the proper maintenance and fault finding of assets.
  • Act as the site HVOA Delegate when required.
  • Nominated as the High Voltage operating Authority delegate for the site.
  • Interpret the requirements of GE manuals, specifications, bulletins, and complete assigned tasks in accordance with GE work instructions.
  • Have a working knowledge of electrical installation requirements.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the above documents and to the organization’s SWMS, LOTO, associated EHS & QA/QC policies/procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) responsibilities.
  • Supervise the electrical installation work.
  • Maintain reports using GE’s various software management tools and databases.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the organisation’s JSA, LOTO, EHS and associated policies/procedures.
  • Report errors, violations, incidents or problems immediately using GE reporting systems.
  • Submit enquiries to Engineering to ensure technical issues are resolved.
  • Answer questions from Management, Engineering, Sourcing and Project Teams as required.
  • Make a conformance or non-conformance decision upon completion of inspections.
  • Form part of an on-call roster to work weekends and nights if required or as directed by management.
  • Perform high voltage switching operations according to site procedures as required.
  • Be familiar with and follow all EHS policies, and procedures applicable to the job and cooperate with GE investigations and EHS audits.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • As a minimum, hold a registered Workers License Electrical (A-Grade or equivalent).
  • Required to be nominated as the Electrical Supervisor in accordance with the Registered Electrical Contactors license and hold the position as the Nominated Qualified Supervisor - Electrical on behalf of the company.
  • Understanding of basic AC/DC electrical circuits and ability to T/S and conduct circuit analysis (24VDC,166VDC, 120, 230, 400, 575, 690VAC).
  • Demonstrate previous experience in High Voltage switching and operations.
  • Have a current High Voltage operating certificate or the ability to gain one.
  • Proficient in fault finding electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Trained to an intermediate level in computer skills.
  • Must have positive attitude and the ability to climb wind turbines and complete physically demanding tasks at heights.
  • Must be willing to travel >75% of the year.
