Accreditation is a must have for individuals who want to design or install solar or battery storage systems and make claims against the Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).

As a Clean Energy Council accredited installer you will:

  • be eligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs)*
  • have access to the dedicated CEC Learning Hub with a wide variety of online training toward Continuous Professional Development points
  • receive updates on critical regulatory updates
  • have access to the My Jobs tool to assist with the installation of PV systems

CEC accredited installers and designers also get free access to myCEC, our subscription service for the rooftop solar and storage industry. Through myCEC installers and designers will also:

  • be able to contact CEC’s tech experts for technical support on complying with standards and regulations
  • have access to technical resources to help you remain on top of your game including short Toolbox Talks videos and deep-dive Advice Docs
  • get offers and discounts from relevant partners including Howden insurance solutions, Concentric workwear and a free subscription to ecogeneration magazine
  • be kept up to date with important upcoming changes to industry standards and guidelines
  • have your voice heard by industry through the Installer Reference Group, regular polls and industry opportunities

Please note: accreditation and myCEC is only available to individuals. This differs from Clean Energy Council membership, which is available to businesses.

Accreditation and STCs

Currently, for a small-scale solar, wind or hydro system to be eligible for STCs, it must be designed and installed by someone who is accredited by the Clean Energy Council.

On 17 December, 2022, updated regulations governing the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme came into force.

These changes affect the accreditation of installers and designers. The Clean Energy Council has made the decision not to provide an application to continue to be the Installer Accrediting body for Australia.

The Clean Energy Council recognises the crucial importance of Installer Accreditation to the healthy functioning of our industry, and we are committed to working collaboratively with the Clean Energy Regulator to achieve the best outcome for consumers and installers.

The Clean Energy Regulator is currently assessing applications for new scheme providers. For now, the program will operate exactly as it has until a decision is made by the Clean Energy Regulator on the outcome of the application process.

More information can be found on the Clean Energy Regulators website.
