The Clean Energy Council is celebrating the milestone of 1000 members.
“This landmark achievement demonstrates the growth and maturity of the clean energy industry in Australia,” said Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton.
Around 40 of the Clean Energy Council’s members have been with the peak body since the very start, when members of the Australian Business Council for Sustainable Energy and AusWind merged in 2007.
Now, the Clean Energy Council represents 14 Sponsoring, 172 Corporate, 26 Professional Services, 142 Associate, 15 Emerging Technologies, and 639 Network members – all of which are contributing to accelerating Australia’s clean energy transition.
The Clean Energy Council’s 1000th member is Flotation Energy, which is looking to develop several exciting offshore wind projects in Victoria and Western Australia.
“The Australian clean energy industry has been on an extraordinary ride and now accounts for 32.5 per cent of Australia’s total electricity generation. Our members have and continue to play a central role in accelerating the transition to clean energy,” said Thornton.
“It is our members’ engagement and commitment that is critical to the tremendous growth of Australia’s clean energy industry.
“Industry advocacy is essential for Australia’s transition to clean energy. A strong membership supports us in driving acceleration to a future run entirely on renewable energy.
“It is a privilege to celebrate working with and supporting over 1000 leading renewable energy and energy storage businesses at this critical time for the industry.”
