As the renewable energy transition accelerates across Australia, there’s never been a better time to get involved with Clean Energy Open Day with five events taking the community behind the scenes of projects across four states.
This year’s theme is ‘Re-energising Australia’ as renewable energy helps to create a zero-emissions pathway out of the COVID-19 pandemic, creating over 50,000 new jobs and lowering power prices.
If you've ever wondered how a solar panel makes electricity, wanted to see inside a wind turbine or been interested to learn about the history of hydropower, then Clean Energy Open Day is the perfect chance to have your questions answered.
Renewable energy generated over 35 per cent of Australia’s electricity supply in the month of September and Clean Energy Open Day gives members of the public insight into the inner workings of the energy infrastructure of the future.
While reopening plans following lockdowns certainly altered some projects’ plans for Clean Energy Open Day, two events will be happening in Tasmania, one each in Queensland and New South Wales, and another will take place in Victoria – albeit in November.
“Clean Energy Open Day is a great opportunity to see for yourself how renewable energy is making a huge difference to our lives and livelihoods,” said Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton.
“Visitors to the projects can talk to the knowledgeable staff and get a better understanding of how power is being generated from the sun, wind and water with the help of advancing technology. If you can get to one of the projects, it’s well worth the trip and you’ll be in for a great day out.”
