Meet the nominees for the CEC Board

Four positions on the CEC Board are available and will be voted on at the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 24 November 2022.

All of the nominees for the CEC Board have extensive experience in the renewable energy industry and executive leadership positions. Read on to find out more about this year's nominees.

Dennis Freedman
Head of Generation and Decarbonisation, Ampol

Dennis brings over 15 years of senior Australian energy experience through a strong commercial lens.

Over his career, he has led the development / acquisition of over 2GW of renewable projects and $1 billion of contestable transmission assets.

Dennis has a deep understanding of complex policy issues.

Dennis is currently the Head of Generation and Decarbonisation at Ampol Energy. He is responsible for Ampol’s grid scale renewable assets strategy, DER and VPP while supporting the broader EV charger network rollout.

Previous roles include the Head of Investments at Octopus and the Head of Infrastructure Development at AusNet Services.

Philip Gannon
Director, Edisun Group

Philip is a qualified electrician and has a degree in electrical engineering with 20 years of combined knowledge across the field.

Philip opened Edisun Group in 2014 and since then has established six separate entities that consist of Solar Axis (Reneawbles wholesale), Edisun Commercial (Commercial Solar), Auswell Energy (Residential Solar), Edisun engineers (Electrical & structural engineering), Edisun Electrical (Commercial electrical division) and Sky High (industrial machine hire).

Philip has also been a representative on the Clean Energy Council’s Installer Reference Group.

Maiken hansen website

Maiken Hansen
Commercial Manager, Green Energy Partners

At Green Energy Partners, Maiken applies her global experience to assist in offshore wind development around Australia.

Maiken has worked as a lawyer in Australia and Denmark, advising clients on development and financing of large energy projects. Maiken has also worked at Vestas in Copenhagen where she advised the business globally on social impact of fabrication, manufacturing and project development.

Maiken is driven by a passion for renewable energy, human rights and a hope to contribute to a just transition.

Maiken brings an understanding of risk, legal responsibilities and duties of a board and intends to complete her AICD qualification.

Warwick Johnston

Warwick Johnston
Managing Director, SunWiz

Warwick is the founder of SunWiz, a market analytics provider to Australia’s solar and storage businesses. Since founding SunWiz in 2009, Warwick has helped thousands of businesses improve their competitiveness, and his research has been published across many channels.

Warwick has served on the board of the CEC since 2016 and has chaired the Finance & Risk Committee since 2018. 

Warwick is a fierce advocate for the role of distributed generation in Australia’s energy supply. Warwick holds a master’s degree in Renewable Energy that provides a framework for considering broader energy policy, energy market operation and energy economics.

Paul Larcher
Technical Director, Project Management, Middleton Group

Paul has over 30 years engineering and project management experience on infrastructure projects in the renewable, power, and transport sectors.

From senior roles at consulting engineering and advisory companies, Middleton Group, AECOM, SMEC, alongside management positions at VicTrack and Yarra Trams he has expertise in strategic planning, business turnaround, commercial performance and building high performing teams through stakeholder alignment.

Paul has a broad understanding of social, government, legal, operational and sustainability issues plus the technical and financial drivers of project development.

Paul is an AICD graduate, pro-bono Board Chair for a NFP, and Treasurer of a local emergency services organisation.

Alex Moran
Manager – Network Innovation & Intelligence, Ausgrid

Alex is a customer-focused, professional engineering leader with 20 years’ experience in utilities and a passion for delivering innovative ideas, with the aim of transforming Australia’s energy landscape for a cleaner and smarter future.

Alex is an electrical engineer and currently holds the position of Manager – Network Innovation & Intelligence at Ausgrid, where she is responsible for managing a large program of trials aimed at encouraging the uptake and better integration of customer energy resources. Alex has deep knowledge of the Australian regulatory framework across economic regulation, metering and connections, as well as strong skills in asset and risk management.

Natalie O’Malley
General Manager Corporate Affairs and Business Improvement, ATCO

Natalie is the General Manager Corporate Affairs and Business Improvement and a member of ATCO’s executive leadership team. Bringing an understanding of energy systems across Australia from 16 years in the industry, Natalie is at the forefront of ATCO’s business in Australia and its transition to a lower emissions energy environment.

She is committed to progressing ATCO’s business plans to commercialise and demonstrate the value of energy storage and clean fuels, including hydrogen and a pumped hydro facility in Central West of NSW. Natalie is a working mum with a Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations and Media Studies), PROSCI Change Management Certification and completed the Copland Leadership Program in 2021.

Jenny Paradiso

Jenny Paradiso
Managing Director, Suntrix

Jenny is Managing Director of Suntrix, a solar PV company with head office in South Australia and operating in SA, VIC and NSW. Jenny established Suntrix in 2009 and drives the strategic direction of the company, with a focus on commercial solar, battery storage and solar/energy monitoring. Jenny is a regular speaker at renewable energy conferences, has worked in management roles for over 20 years and is a member of a number of committees and not-for-profit boards.

Jenny was the winner of the National Telstra Business Women’s Entrepreneur Award in 2016 and named in AFR’s 100 women of influence in 2019. Her personal and professional drivers are around renewable energy, women in business and supporting start-up entrepreneurs.

As a member of the Clean Energy Council board, Jenny aims to represent the views and needs of SME solar companies nationally, giving solar companies a voice and providing a point-of-view that reflects their segment of the industry.

Krystal Skinner
General Manager Customer Experience, Horizon Power

As General Manager Customer Experience at Horizon Power, Krystal ensures customer needs remain front and centre in the energy transition. She oversees all aspects of the retail business, and is passionate about ensuring customer solutions, including solar, storage and EVs are incorporated into our energy systems.

Krystal has more than 15 years’ experience in the energy sector, across a variety of roles spanning product development, innovation, technology and retail domains.

On the Board, Krystal would bring passion for collaboration, a drive to provide actionable outcomes, and a shared vision to accelerate decarbonisation for a more sustainable and prosperous Australia.

Georgia Watt
Chief Operating Officer, Green Park Energy

Georgia is a passionate renewables advocate and Chief Operating Officer of Green Peak Energy (GPE), a DER investment company specialising in behind-the-meter PPAs, across Australia and NZ. Prior to this they held a leadership role at Lendlease Living Utilities, responsible for the precinct utilities at Barangaroo.

Georgia has prior board experience as a director of Amber Power Holding Pty Ltd, an alternative energy R&D company and other community-oriented boards and committees and plans to do the AICD course soon.

Their current drivers are around decentralised energy and grid reform, smarter ESG investing, and increasing gender equity and LGBTQIA+ representation in our industry.
