Statement on NSW Government's grid connection grants announcement

The following statement is attributable to Clean Energy Council Policy Director - Market, Grid and Investment, Christiaan Zuur:

“Getting more batteries connected is the key to a rapid and safe decarbonisation of the NSW energy system.

“The Clean Energy Council has been working with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) to improve the connection process for several years, through our Connection Reform Initiative. We also established a graduate grid connection engineer program to fill the critical skills gap in this area.

“Today’s funding announcement from the NSW Government is therefore a particularly welcome additional measure, which will accelerate the work already underway by industry and AEMO.”
