Melbourne University student, Greta Chen attended this year’s Wind Industry Summit as a sponsored Clean Energy Council Career Launcher attendee. Chen, who is undertaking a Juris Doctor degree said “So many brilliant people and professionals. Without Clean Energy Council supporting women, I would not have gotten the chance to meet leading industry experts.”
One of the organisations Chen connected with was Tilt Renewables who was one of the many generous sponsoring organisations for the Career Launcher initiative.
Tilt Renewables’, Sarah McCormick said that they are committed to seeing more women represented in the industry. “Sponsoring a student provides an understanding of the industry and the opportunities within it at the start of a student's career. Hopefully we can influence more women to look within the renewables arena for long term careers.”
On meeting Chen during the day, the Tilt Renewables team were very impressed by her proactive approach in discussing her background and goals. “Greta seemed a perfect fit for a new role that we were only just looking to hire.”
One interview later, and Chen was invited to join the Tilt Renewables team as Community Engagement and Stakeholder Advisor. “As I kick-start my career in renewable energy, I couldn't ask for a better place to be. In my new role I'll be applying my engagement experience, legal knowledge and creative problem-solving. I bring these skills from previous work I did with First Nations peoples, community renewable non-for-profits and the music industry.”
Clean Energy Council is continually grateful for the enthusiasm of its members on supporting more women into the sector.
