Tender opportunity for Approved Solar Retailers in Queensland

If you are an Approved Solar Retailer (who meets the below requirements) and want to supply batteries or coupled solar PV and batteries under the scheme you must complete and submit the tender documents by 24 July.

If your tender application is successful, you will get exclusive access to approved customers.

What if I am not a Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer?

If you would like to become one of the exclusive battery suppliers for the scheme, you must be a signatory to (or in the process of becoming a signatory to) the Clean Energy Council’s Solar Retailer Code of Conduct or an equivalent industry code.

As long as you are in the application process to becoming a Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer by the 24 July tender deadline, you can submit a tender application. You can find out more about applying to become a Clean Energy Council Approved Solar Retailer on our website.

What is the scheme?

The scheme will give Queenslanders access to a $3000 battery grant and an interest-free loan of up to $10,000 to buy systems with battery storage from late 2018. There are 1500 financial assistance packages available.

Requirements for tenderers

The safety of all Queenslanders is a key priority for this scheme, so you must commit to the following:

• Installing batteries that are compliant with the Best Practice Guide: Battery Storage Equipment, Electrical Safety Requirements. This means lithium-based batteries that are pre-assembled. There’s some flexibility around whether the battery is transported in one or several parts, or has some minor assembly on site. You will have to nominate which batteries you would install to meet these requirements.
• A commitment to delivering retailer best practice by being a signatory to (or in the process of becoming a signatory to) the Clean Energy Council’s Solar Retailer Code of Conduct or an equivalent industry code.
• Conducting some or all of your operations from a Queensland premises and demonstrating the benefits your business provides locally.
• Holding all relevant accreditations, licences and insurances.
• Providing reporting and data to Government – (1) to operate the scheme (2) to allow Government to operate an inspection regime (3) to evaluate the scheme. There is also some reporting ‘by exception’ to Government (such as safety incident reporting or supply chain issues).
• Fixing any issues that are identified through the Government’s safety inspections, with timeframes to fix issues based on how serious the issue is.

As part of this process, the Queensland Government will not be purchasing batteries or solar PV from suppliers. Rather, the Government is providing an opportunity for suppliers to exclusively access approved customers.
