Welcoming the Hon Chris Bowen to the energy and climate portfolio

The Clean Energy Council welcomes the Hon Chris Bowen MP as the Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy and warmly thanks the Hon Mark Butler MP for his service in the portfolio.

The Clean Energy Council welcomes the Hon Chris Bowen MP as the Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy and warmly thanks the Hon Mark Butler MP for his service in the portfolio.

"We look forward to a productive working relationship with Mr Bowen in what is, once again, shaping as a critical time in Australia's energy landscape, along with the role our world-leading industry can play in geopolitics," said Clean Energy Council CEO, Kane Thornton.

"Mark Butler has been an exceptional Shadow Minister for one of the most complex and challenging issues during an extraordinary period in Australian history.

"As Australia takes on its obligations under the Paris Agreement, the clean energy industry stands at the ready to act as a job creator, stimulate the economy and propel Australia towards being a renewable energy superpower.

"Our federal politicians desperately need to settle on an energy and climate policy that can achieve enduring bipartisan political support. Such a policy would restore the confidence of clean energy investors to reduce the nation's carbon emissions, ensure the stability of the grid and keep electricity prices low for households and industry alike."
