The Clean Energy Council's Women in Renewables initiative champions women in renewable energy while striving to achieve a better gender balance across all levels of the industry. Through building a united community of men and women who share a collective mission and vision, we will in turn enable women to step up as empowered leaders within their organisations.
We are dedicated to facilitating change in the renewables sector through both supporting women in their current roles and building a supportive community. Through doing so, and empowering women, we believe the renewable energy industry will flourish across its many facets as a direct result.
The Women in Renewables initiative has five core aims:
- To showcase the contribution of women in renewables
- To provide professional development opportunities and advice for women in renewables
- To foster a sense of valued community, and wider industry pride in Women in Renewables
- To provide opportunities for informal self-guided development and support for women in renewables.
- To foster positive change in the renewables industry so it can be more inclusive and supportive of women.

Applications to the AWRA e-mentoring program have now closed. The program will not continue.
Women in Renewables is currently seeking new opportunities to partner with an e-mentoring program.
Developments will be shared in the coming months via the mailing list.
Women in Renewables Scholarship
Congratulations to Vanessa Ratard, the winner of the 2018 Women in Renewables Scholarship.
The scholarship will support Vanessa to undertake the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Foundations of Directorship course.
Details of our 2019 Women in Renewables Scholarship will be released on the Women in Renewables Scholarship page later in the year.
Panel and Leaders' Pledge
A key aim for the Women in Renewables initiative is to encourage the industry to be more inclusive and supportive of women while showcasing women's contributions to the industry.
To do this we have developed a Leaders’ Pledge, through which members of the clean energy industry have the opportunity to support and actively demonstrate their commitment and belief in the proven value and importance of achieving gender diversity.
As a part of the Leader’s pledge, signatories also commit to the Panel Pledge and therefore agree to not participate in forums or panels that do not embrace gender diversity. To aid you in this goal, we have developed a suggested response to single gender panel invitations specifically tailored for different situations available on the Panel Pledge page.

In support of our commitment to the Women in Renewables Leaders' Pledge, the Clean Energy Council is compiling the industry's first Speakers Guide to promote gender diverse panels.
The guide will showcase to event planners the quality and breadth of women in the sector, including their areas of expertise and location.
We invite women in middle, senior and executive management in the renewable energy industry to submit their details to be included in the Speakers Guide.
Each year the Women in Renewables initiative hosts various events centred around supporting women in the industry and providing professional development opportunities.
