Submission in response to proposed Hunter region offshore wind area

The CEC welcomes the draft declaration of the Hunter offshore wind area, noting the high-quality wind resource and the strength of existing transmission capacity onshore and an industrial workforce in the region. The draft area is, however, much smaller than the Gippsland area and we would hope to see this expanded within a few years once initial projects have Feasibility Licences.

Clean Energy Council comment on the Efficient Provision of Inertia rule change

This market will reward renewables for controlling the 'rate of change of frequency', which is key to keeping the system stable during major disturbance events, like the loss of a large thermal coal generator.
