A 24 per cent increase in Clean Energy Council members over the past year serves as another indication of the renewable energy industry’s rapid advancement.
Record growth in the Australian renewable energy industry has translated into an exceptional 12 months for the Clean Energy Council, with the membership base of the clean energy industry’s peak body growing by 24 per cent in the year to June 2018. This brings the Clean Energy Council’s total membership to 534 companies as of June 2018, up from 406 just a year earlier.
The significant increase in the Clean Energy Council’s membership base reflects the rapid growth of the clean energy industry in recent years as local renewable energy companies have ramped up project development, international players have looked to gain a foothold in the Australian market and businesses in the finance, legal and engineering sectors have increased their presence in the renewable energy space.
In the 12 months to June 2018, member numbers increased across most of the Clean Energy Council’s membership levels, with corporate members increasing by 16 per cent, associate members by 13 per cent, network members by 33 per cent and emerging tech members by 50 per cent. The number of sponsoring members remained steady at 17 over the 12-month period.
When this impressive member growth is added to the record number of Clean Energy Council Accredited Installers, which now stands at 5375 after increasing by 17 per cent in the year to June 2018, it is clear that the Clean Energy Council represents a considerable proportion of the Australian renewable energy industry.
