Solar installers big circle

The solar industry has been thrown into disarray by recent changes made by electrical safety regulators to the certification system and other paperwork for DC isolators. This is incredibly frustrating and disappointing and presents disastrous impacts for the Australian rooftop solar industry.

With these changes affecting inverters with internal DC isolators, some manufacturers of inverters with internal DC isolators will find it almost impossible to meet the new requirements in time for the 18 December 2021 commencement of the new inverter standard, AS 4777.2:2020.

This problem was created by last-minute changes by electrical safety regulators, and the CEC has been working closely with inverter manufacturers and certifiers to find a solution. Importantly, this has not been caused by a safety incident and it remains safer to have the DC isolator internal to the inverter.

While electrical safety regulators are insisting that DC isolators must comply with an Australian standard known as AS 60947-3, there is not a single lab in the world that is accredited to test to this standard. If not fixed urgently, businesses will lose money and jobs.

Join our experienced panel as they address this issue and answer your questions. For those unable to attend, access to the webinar recording will be made available on the CEC website within 24-hours following the conclusion of this virtual event.
