Chloe Munro Scholarship to support next generation of female leadership

In recognition of the enormous legacy of the late Chloe Munro AO, a coalition of organisations are proud to announce the establishment of the Chloe Munro Scholarship for Transformational Leadership to continue Chloe's legacy and support the next wave of female leaders in Australia.

The scholarship has been established through the leadership of the Clean Energy Council and Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and supported by the Australian Energy Market Operator, Australian Renewable Energy Agency, Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Carbon Market Institute, Energy Efficiency Council, Goldwind, Hydro Tasmania, Impact Investment Group, Monash Energy Institute and UPC\AC Renewables Australia. We would also like to acknowledge Anna Collyer as well as the many staff from the Energy Security Board who have made personal contributions.

The Chloe Munro Scholarship for Transformational Leadership will be delivered in partnership with our official Education Provider, Women & Leadership Australia and focus on supporting emerging female leaders in the fields of clean energy, energy management and carbon abatement.

"Chloe Munro had a profound influence on public policy and the development of clean energy, energy management and carbon markets across Australia. Her leadership in these fields was complemented by her enthusiasm and commitment to supporting and developing the next generation of leaders," said Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton.

"An extraordinary professional career including over three decades of public service in Victoria and the Commonwealth meant Chloe had a significant impact on many critical public policy issues spanning sustainability, energy and water. This scholarship is an important way we can continue that impact long into the future," said Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D'Ambrosio.

The program will see 14 emerging female leaders receive a scholarship to undertake one of two courses offered by Women & Leadership Australia in the first year, with further scholarships offered over the next five years. The first round of scholarships will include four places in the Executive Ready course, a seven-month development program for middle to senior leaders and 10 places in the Leading Edge program, a four-month development program for early-career leaders and managers.

These women will be encouraged to establish a strong network to support each other, building their leadership capability and confidence and drive and collaborate to continue to change the Australian energy system.

Suzi Finkelstein, CEO Women & Leadership Australia, said, "We are delighted to be supporting this important initiative to strengthen women's leadership in the energy sector. Championing women in leadership is as critical as ever, and these scholarships will enable more women to engage in career-defining leadership development programs."

Applications for the Chloe Munro Scholarship for Transformational Leadership open 26 August 2021. More information can be found at cleanenergycouncil.org.au/women
