Statement from Clean Energy Council CEO, Kane Thornton

The following statement is attributable to Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton:

“The renewable energy industry is proud to partner with farmers, as well as the wider regional and rural communities across Australia.

“Forty percent of our energy is provided by renewable sources. The vast majority of Australians want more renewables.

“It’s essential that they do - coal plants are reaching the end of their technical life, they’re closing, and renewables are needed to keep the lights on. Nothing else will do that in time.

“The projects we partner on in regional communities are helping to drought-proof farming communities, provide revenue and income, and provide jobs where they are needed most.”
