About

The Clean Energy Council is the peak body for the clean energy industry in Australia.

We are a not-for-profit, membership-based organisation. We represent and work with Australia's leading renewable energy and energy storage businesses, as well as rooftop solar installers, to further the development of clean energy in Australia.

Our vision is for Australia to be powered by clean energy

We are committed to accelerating the transformation of Australia’s energy system to one that is smarter and cleaner. We do this through:

  • Providing a strong voice for our members
  • Standing up for the industry
  • Developing and driving effective policy and advocacy
  • Working with industry to continually improve standards and maintain integrity
  • Working closely with local, state and federal governments to increase demand for clean energy products
  • Providing services and initiatives to members and the wider industry that help to grow the sector
  • Promoting the clean energy industry

Our policy and advocacy work allows our members to have a strong voice that helps to influence and accelerate the take up of clean energy in Australia.

We also have a strong focus on raising standards and maintaining integrity with the industry. We do this through a number of ways including, historically, the accreditation of solar installers across Australia*, maintaining lists of approved modules, inverters and battery energy storage products, running an Approved Solar Retailer program, developing guidelines and having input into the development of Australian Standards.

You can find out more about this work through the following links.

*from 29 February 2024, Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) is responsible for the accreditation of installers and designers. Read more here.

Consumers

The Clean Energy Council is primarily a membership body for companies involved in the clean energy industry. We support consumers to adopt clean energy through public advocacy, policy development and administration of consumer protection programs.

If you are looking for information on buying solar panels, batteries or other new energy tech visit the New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) site for consumer guides. You can also search for accredited installers here and New Energy Tech Approved Sellers here.

If you have a complaint about a renewable energy service or product you have received, we may be able to help you through the programs we administer. Find out who to talk to here.

The Clean Energy Council does not sell solar or batteries and we do not door-knock or call consumers. If a company has contacted you saying they are from the Clean Energy Council, they are scammers. You can find more information in our consumer section.
